It all started with a tweet … again!
On Monday Product Hunt announced the winners of the now annual Golden Kitty Awards. Since two of the categories (maker and community member of the year) are now based on data and a magic algorithm, it got people wondering about the numbers.
Ben Tossell tweeted about one of the numbers behind the community member of the year, the number products they hunted.
That got me thinking about the 500Makers website, and the companion we’d always planned to build.
Since we already had all the data in the database for the products, and who hunted them (see I said we had planned the companion all along), building a website to show the top 500Hunters didn’t take very long.
This morning Eric Willis, who will forever be on the 500Hunters list, jumped at the chance to post it on Product Hunt:
It’s doing quite well, check it out, and leave a comment here or there, would love to know what think.
Since we’re talking about ProductHunters … I’d like to take a moment and congratulate Chris Messina on being named Community Member of the Year. From every interaction I’ve had with Chris publicly and privately, it’s clear to see why he was selected as the winner, great job, and I’m sure we’ll see you at the top of the list in 2017 too!
